The technology
AKOYA is equipped with the « Multi-Access » technology that enable to land on water, ground and snow with the same ease and without any prior modification.
AKOYA is therefore the amphibious airplane with aerodynamics allowing high-performances while keeping low fuel consumption.
AKOYA is equipped with retractable landing gear, so that its amphibious layout allows water-landings thanks to the hydrofoils system. As for operation on snow, the landing gear is fitted with retractable skis.
Retractable gear
Take-offs and landings can be performed on 200-meters-private fields (220 yards) as well as on airfields.
Hydrofoils
The combination of two hydrofoils in the shape of an inverted V and retractable landing-gear gives AKOYA performances far above the other amphibious airplanes. The hydrofoils, combined with the high lift of the Ri&Flex Wing, lift the fuselage out of the water at very low speed and dispense with the need for a step or fairing. This allows the plane to accelerate and take-off over short distances.
This system of hydrofoils enables the fuselage to be very aerodynamic making the AKOYA the first plane to be both agile in water and fast in the air.
Retractable skis
AKOYA is equipped with retractable skis. Therefore, you can decide at any time to land on a snow field in safety. The use of these skis does not require any handling and thanks to the retractable system, AKOYA keeps all its performances on flight.
