Why did you choose to fly round-the-world?
Environmental issues have causes and consequences all over the world. One of the Hy-Bird project ambitions is to show that clean transportation is now a reality. Therefore, we must exhibit Hy-Bird in as many places as possible: A Round-the-World flight meets this prerogative.
Besides, through this project, we wish to bring together as many people as possible from many different cultures.
We do not pretend neither wish to break a speed or a length record. Hence Hy-Bird will fly around the world with around 30 stopovers. For each stage, Hy-Bird will be piloted by an inhabitant of the following landing country. In addition to Hy-Bird exhibitions, we wish at each significant stage to enhance the local culture and the efforts made to build a sustainable society.
The Round-the-World goals are:
• To carry out an ambitious project that will span the globe and, that will have multiple impacts (scientific, ecological, media, human…).
• To demonstrate that transportation can be clean and quiet.
• To spread the idea of sustainable development throughout the world.
• To make the public more aware of the use and benefits of clean transportation for the environment. And by this sensitisation, we hope the transport industry, and particularly the aviation industry, will evolve towards the use of renewable energies.
• To make obvious that hydrogen use in transport is now safe and efficient
• To boost stations that deliver clean hydrogen produced from water electrolysis
• To join forces of various manufacturers, laboratories, universities, and individuals interested in Hy-Bird
• To promote the skills of each partner nation-wide and worldwide.
• Eventually, to develop and market Hy-Bird, making environmentally-friendly flights accessible to all.
