2004, in the Savoy region – France -, between lakes and mountains, and from the impetus of Erick HERZBERGER and Luc BERNOLE, LISA Airplanes, a high-end aircraft manufacturer, is born. The founders believe that light aviation is a creative space that goes well beyond a means of transport. In our world, where it's all been said and it's all been done, the founders have the vision that taking to the air will provide the seeds of freedom, as long as the necessary high-technology can be espoused to the sensibilities of Man.
This vision was set out in a 10-page document. It is the sole basis for all that followed. The project was welcomed to Savoie-Technolac, a natural breeding ground for an innovative company with its high tech skills and exceptional quality of life. The founders convinced the institutions for business creation, investors, high level collaborators and aeronautical industries.
In January 2006 the first sketches of an innovative amphibious airplane came into being. 18 months later the AKOYA prototype made its first successful flights in a series of tests running through to 2008. 3 further years were necessary to finalize this very ambitious program with its revolutionary concepts and to achieve the industrial solution that today allows serial production of this unique amphibious skiplane.
